[Case Study of Air Conditioning System Implementation] Pharmaceutical Company C

Power consumption of air-cooled chillers reduced by 14%! A must-see case for those who want to increase the cooling capacity of their equipment while maintaining the same power consumption!

We would like to introduce a case study of Pharmaceutical Company C, which has implemented our air conditioning system. The reduction of CO2 emissions has become a national issue and is mandated for companies. If the reduction targets set by the national or local government are not met, penalties will be imposed. The company faced the challenge of wanting to reduce electricity consumption without changing the capacity of their air conditioning units. Therefore, they introduced our air conditioning system, which maximizes the refrigeration capacity of the equipment. As a result, they were able to cover the shortfall that was previously managed by an absorption chiller, and in the future, it may be possible to stop the operation of the absorption system altogether. (Mi Rakuru Coil cannot be installed on absorption chillers) 【Case Study】 ■ Client: Pharmaceutical Company C ■ Issues: Having exhausted energy-saving measures, there were no means left for CO2 reduction. They wanted to stop the operation of equipment that incurs maintenance costs in the future. ■ Effects: Our product was able to maximize the refrigeration capacity of the equipment while consuming the same amount of electricity. As a result, they were able to cover the shortfall that was previously managed by an absorption chiller, and in the future, it may be possible to stop the operation of the absorption system altogether. (Mi Rakuru Coil cannot be installed on absorption chillers) *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Technology for producing cold water

Specifically, I will explain the process of making cold water from heat.

First, a low-temperature, low-pressure gas-liquid mixed refrigerant (water and water vapor) enters the evaporator. Inside the evaporator, which is in a near-vacuum state, the boiling point of water at 100°C is reduced to 7-10°C, allowing the refrigerant (water) to boil and turn into water vapor by absorbing heat from relatively warm water in the chilled water piping. The water vapor is drawn into the absorber, similar to the suction side of a vapor compression refrigeration cycle compressor. The water vapor is absorbed by the absorbent "lithium bromide" and is pumped into the regenerator. In the regenerator, the mixture of refrigerant and absorbent is heated to separate it back into the original water vapor and absorbent, with the absorbent returning to the absorber and the water vapor being sent to the condenser. There are methods for adding heat in the regenerator, including combustion using fuels such as gas or oil, or using steam or hot water. The refrigerant, which has returned to water after losing heat in the condenser, is depressurized in the expansion device and flows back to the evaporator, repeating the cycle.

Air Conditioning Basics: What is an Absorption Chiller?

We will introduce the types of refrigerators and absorption refrigeration cycles!

An absorption chiller uses "water" as a refrigerant and is a device that produces chilled or hot water by utilizing the absorption refrigeration cycle. Since it uses "water" found in nature, it is also called a natural chiller. This article will explain the structure and mechanism of absorption chillers, comparing them with turbo chillers that are often used for the same purpose. [Contents (excerpt)] ■ Types of chillers ■ Vapor compression refrigeration cycle ■ Absorption refrigeration cycle ■ Absorbent: What is lithium bromide? ■ Advantages of absorption chillers *For detailed content of the article, please refer to the related links. *For more information, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.

Air Conditioning Basics: Primary Energy Conversion

The COP of absorption chillers is calculated from primary energy! Comparing the efficiency of chillers under the same conditions.

When comparing the COP of absorption chillers and turbo chillers, the COP of turbo chillers listed in catalogs is around 6, which is high, but this value is calculated based on the power consumption of secondary energy. On the other hand, the COP of absorption chillers is calculated from primary energy, and to compare the efficiency of chillers under the same conditions, a primary energy conversion is performed. This article provides a detailed explanation of primary energy conversion. [Contents] ■ Primary energy and secondary energy ■ Power generation loss and transmission loss ■ Primary energy conversion values *For detailed content of the article, please refer to the related links. *For more information, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.
